Principal’s Message
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Clancy Catholic College website and I thank you for taking the time to have a look at our College.
One of the amazing things about our community is the importance of living out our motto ‘To Love Like Christ’. At Clancy, we live this through our Mission by developing in students a love of Christ, learning and each other. This is evident through the development of faith in all members of our community and through instilling in students a ‘love of Christ’.
It can also be seen through the positive relationships that are built on respect between staff, the students and families. This is a hallmark of our community and the cornerstone of showing a ‘love of each other’.
At Clancy Catholic College, we have a reputation for excellence in all that we do as we demonstrate our ‘love of learning’. We make no apologies for setting high expectations and for challenging all students to be the very best they can be. At the same time, students are supported by a very motivated and professional staff, so they can achieve their best – and flourish in their lives.
Our facilities were all built in, and for, the twenty-first century. They are vibrant, attractive, and flexible learning spaces. Our campus is safe, comfortable, and conducive to learning and provides students with specialist facilities that help them accomplish their learning and personal goals.
Clancy Catholic College is a special community that supports students as they learn and grow to take their place in society. I hope to welcome you to our wonderful community.
Mr David Costin
Principal
History
Clancy Catholic College opened in January 2006, under the leadership of Mr John Robinson, the founding Principal. So many of the characteristics of the Clancy culture were established in these early days; a strong emphasis on relationships, the seeking of excellence in all that we do, and a deep love of Christ.
The inaugural Year 7 cohort totalled 55 students and the first Year 12 cohort completed the HSC in 2011. Mrs Iris Nastasi was appointed as the College’s second Principal in 2012. The 10-year anniversary of Clancy Catholic College was celebrated at St Mary’s Cathedral in 2016.
Mr David Fetterplace was appointed as Principal in 2018. The College’s building program was completed in January 2020. Mr David Costin was appointed as the fourth Principal of the College in 2024. The student population is now more than 1200 students and approximately 130 staff.
Charism
Clancy Catholic College was founded under the patronage of Cardinal Edward Bede Clancy, the seventh Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sydney (1983 to 2001). One of the unique aspects of the young College’s story is that our patron was active and well at the time of foundation.
While the College is not associated with any specific religious order, the charism of the College has developed around the ‘spirituality of the heart.’ Cardinal Clancy’s life and his words speak much to us about faithfulness and dedication to the Good News which is captured in the College’s motto “To Love Like Christ.”
The seven Clancy values are a key part of our identity, with each value assigned to one of the seven Houses. As a Catholic learning community, these values help us to raise awareness of social responsibility amongst our students so that they may meaningfully engage with, and contribute to, an ever-changing world.
